About Me
Growing up surrounded by generations of makers and artists, creativity was just
part of my everyday life.
Like many contemporary artists, I am guided by experimentation and intuition, exploring beauty, mood, and meaning in the space between curiosity and the unknown.
I create two- and three-dimensional works, often in restrained tonal palettes that complement existing art. I believe in art's power to transform a space, broaden perception, and invite us to pause and perceive differently.
In my textile art series, Frayed, I experiment with colour, shape, and texture within the sometimes-chaotic gridwork of sewn linen and canvas. The work reflects how we navigate life's unpredictability while creating beauty and meaning along the way.
When not fearlessly following my artistic heart, I'm digging in the dirt and enjoying the wildlife that visits my backyard each day.
Biography
Jade Brown is an award-winning Canadian artist who grew up in rural Southwestern Ontario, between the small towns of Hickson and Tavistock.
A memorable artistic milestone arrived early: at age six, her hand-drawn Mickey and Minnie Mouse submissions prompted CKCO Kitchener children's television host “Big Al” to admonish on air, “Remember kids—don't trace,” after he mistakenly assumed they had been traced.
At seventeen, Jade was one of twenty students across Ontario selected to attend a summer scholarship program at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), where she studied under professional Toronto artists. The experience proved pivotal, shaping the creative direction of her life.
In 2011, Jade co-received the Naples Retail Experience of the Year Award for her commercial interior design work for
Ace Hardware in Naples, Florida.
In 2012, she received the Juror’s Choice Award at Toronto’s Papermill Gallery for He Had Returned, a semi-abstract acrylic painting of an amaryllis — notably the gallery’s first accepted abstract botanical work.
Her artwork has appeared on both book and album covers and can be found in private homes and spaces throughout North America.
Jade lives and works in Wortley Village in London, where she maintains an active studio practice.
She is currently working on an art book featuring her 2011 watercolour street scenes of downtown London, capturing the city’s colourful metal tree installations that stood from 2007 to 2019.

I commissioned a custom nursery mural from Jade Brown, a local London artist. I wanted to surprise my daughter, son-in-law, and their newborn as they moved into a new home. It was a great surprise for them, and everyone loved it. Jade did an incredible job.
