"I try to create a bit of magic for your wall" - Jade Brown
I didn't have much choice but to become a creator and artist, given that both of my families are full of them.
My goal is to provide you with artwork driven by experimentation and mood. Living with art can transform a room's energy, open our minds, and make us happier.
Geometric, textured circles and squiggly shapes take their place on sewn, stained linen grids, defining the textile art. Textured paint on canvas, sometimes uppity, and on occasion, decaying flowers make up the large flower series. From time to time, I work with plaster, suspending wild botanicals on it. In addition to these series of artworks, I work with designers and provide commissions for individuals. Take a look at how my commissions work.
When not fearlessly following creative inspiration, I can be found in my garden, tending the ever-demanding wildlife.
Biography
Jade grew up in rural southwestern Ontario, between the small towns of Hickson and Tavistock.
In her 17th year, she was one of 20 students from Ontario selected to participate in a summer art scholarship program at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), taught by artists from Toronto. That summer of 1978 had a lasting impact on the direction of her life.
In 2011, Jade co-won the Naples Retail Experience of the Year award for her design of a commercial interior for Ace Hardware in Naples, Florida. She received the Juror’s Choice award at the Papermill Gallery in Toronto, Ontario, in 2012 for her submission titled "He Had Returned," which featured an acrylic painting of a semi-abstract amaryllis.
Jade lives and maintains a studio in Wortley Village, London, Ontario.
Her hope is to finish writing her book, featuring her watercolour street scenes from London’s downtown, circa 2011, highlighting the colourful metal trees installed in 2007.
